Sean Kanan won the 2021 Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series as the Executive Producer/Creator of Studio City exclusively on Amazon Prime. He previous received four nominations for Studio City in the categories of Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Writing Team. He also won the Indie Series Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for his heartbreaking and humorous portrayal of Sam Stephens aka Dr. Pierce Hartley.
On the big screen Sean began this year starring in back to back films with Bruce Willis. Both Survive the Game and The Fortress were produced by Emmett/Furla and filmed in the mountains and jungles of Puerto Rico. Lionsgate Entertainment will distribute. Next up is a lead role in the suspense thriller, Killer Ambition for Lifetime. He recently rejoined the cast of the Bold and the Beautiful on CBS reprising his role of Bad boy Deacon Sharpe.

Sean’s acting career exploded with his breakout performance as iconic villain, Mike Barnes, in The Karate Kid III beating out over two thousand hopefuls in an open call to his award winning roles in daytime television playing black sheep AJ Quartermaine on General Hospital to his critically acclaimed portrayal of Deacon Sharpe on The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, television’s most syndicated show in history seen in dozens of countries. Much to the delight of fans of the Karate Kid franchise, Sean reprised his role as Mike Barnes in the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai beginning with Season 5. Having appeared in more than one thousand episodes of network television and more than twenty feature films, Sean is recognized around the world.
Whether lobbying on Capitol Hill raising awareness about bullying or taking his stand-up comedy act to Bosnia to entertain the troops with USO, Sean remains active in numerous charitable organizations including The American Cancer Society, various animal advocacy groups and serving as the international youth ambassador for Boo2Bullying.
Sean and wife, Emmy winning producer and writer, Michele Kanan love Palm Springs where he has a star on the Walk of Fame. He spends his free time practicing martial arts, cooking, traveling and studying multiple foreign languages including Italian and Mandarin.
