Tara Jayne Sands is an American voice actress and a former co-host of the Cartoon Network’s weekly block, Fridays. Tara’s versatile voice can be heard on hundreds of radio and TV commercials, audiobooks, video games, anime and animation. She played the roles of Bulbasaur, Richie, Sammy, Oddish, Tori, Bugsy, Cissy and Jasmine (as well as over 50 other roles) in “Pokemon,” ” Angel and Tyler in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” Anna Kyoyama in “Shaman King,” Mokuba Kaiba in “Yu-Gi-Oh!” (the series and 2017 film), as well as Chase on “Fighting Foodons” Kombu Infinity in “One Punch Man,” Kari in “Digimon Adventure Tri,” and Filia Ul Copt in “Slayers.” Some other projects include the role of Circe in “Generator Rex” for Cartoon Network, Summer in “Barbie: Life In The Dream House,” Willie in “Bottersnikes and Gumbles,” Spyler in “I Spy” and has appeared in multiple episodes of “Celebrity Deathmatch.”
Sands was raised in New Jersey and studied theater at Hofstra University. She has been involved with voice acting since high school. She voiced Tiara in Shamanic Princess, Hikaru Shidou in the OVA ‘remake’ of Magic Knight Rayearth, and had roles in Naruto, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers, DuRaRaRa!!, Geobreeders, Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Legend of Himiko, Maze, Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, One Piece, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, Rurouri Kenshin, The Seven Deadly Sins, TV Funhouse, Tiger and Bunny and many more series.
Tara has also voiced characters in a number of video game series including as Pipotchi on Ape Excape 2, Masaru in Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, Jin in Dead Island, Leah in God Eater 2: Rage Burst, Bamo in Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Birth 3: V Generation, Lily and Mayuri in Return to PopoloCrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale, Pria, Cersei, and Ferocious Illira in Skyforge, Genis Sage in Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, in addition to roles in “Avatar,” “Singularity,” “Final Fantasy,” and “Call of Juarez” among others.
For 2 years (over 100 episodes!), Tara was the on-camera host of Cartoon Network’s weekly Friday night lineup, appropriately titled “Fridays.” On “Fridays” Tara interviewed dozens of celebrities like Johnny Depp, George Lucas, Robin Williams, Charles Barkley and Kevin Spacey, and had more on-camera food fights than she cares to remember.
Sands has narrated over 100 audiobooks, including Wendelin Van Draanen’s Sammy Keyes series, Meg Cabot’s “Allie Finkle,” Kate DiCamillo’s “Flora And Ulysses” and Jennifer Estep’s “Frost” series.
In addition to voice-overs for commercials, Sands has appeared on-camera in commercials, and on television series including Everybody Hates Chris, The Sarah Silverman Program, The Fresh Beat Band and The Newsroom.
