Writer/Director/Actor and self-proclaimed ‘Professional Nerd’ Jon Lee Brody was born and raised in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. His father of German and Jewish decent and his mother of Korean decent, worked as a civil engineer and business consultant, respectively. Jon attended William Fremd High School where he excelled as a three sport athlete and also excelled academically. His aspirations were to be a professional athlete and like many kids in Chicago he wanted to ‘be like Mike’. During high school, Jon was also a Golden Gloves boxer, an avid Martial Artist (he is a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do) and also was in the schools’ symphony orchestra where he played the violin.
Jon went on to play football at the University of Illinois. However in his sophomore season, Jon suffered an injury that ultimately ended his playing career. He stayed in school and graduated in May of 2007 with a dual degree in Accounting and Finance. Jon was accepted for admissions to prestigious law schools like Harvard and Northwestern, but he instead chose to go against the grain and pursue his other childhood dream: acting. He didn’t wait long to buy a one way ticket to Los Angeles.
Jon’s career started on the other side of the camera as an actor appearing in such movies as ‘Pawn’, ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’ and ‘Furious 7’. In 2012, he started his production company ‘Iron Will Productions’. (The name is a tribute to the motto of his former high school football team the Fremd Vikings). Since then, Jon has been to devoting more of his time to writing and directing. He gained notice as a director with his award winning short film/pilot ‘Police Guys’ which he also wrote. The film was shot in 2 days with a modest budget of $200. It is currently being developed into a feature film under the new title ‘Police Cops’. Jon has also garnered awards as a screenwriter. His screenplays “Legacy” and “Hurricane Kid” have both won awards on the film festival circuit. Jon is active in the world of music video and commercial directing as well, and hopes to branch out more into the world of branded new media content.
Jon currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
